Client Optimizations May 29, 2015

I spent a little bit of time working on optimizing the client, with two major changes. First, I fixed a bug reported by UnknownShadow200 - apparently the earlier changes to chunk rendering made it so that blocks underground (and out of sight) were being rendered. After the change, the vertex count of each chunk went down dramatically.

Complex block models May 16, 2015

More complex block models are being built out in the renderer, including torches. This one is pretty simple - it starts with a scaled version of the usual cube that most blocks use, adds special texture mappings, and skews the model depending on the orientation of the torch. More complex blocks like beds and cacti and so on should also be possible in the near future.

Texture and performance improvements May 15, 2015

I've spent some time improving the textures from Programmer Art to more closely resemble Minecraft, as you can (hopefully) tell from the screenshot here. My goal here is to make the assets we distribute with TrueCraft look close enough to the original spirit of Minecraft that users don't feel the need to use the official assets. Also visible in this screenshot is the improved block rendering capabilities of TrueCraft, including support for odd models (like snow) and cubes with different textures on different sides (like crafting benches, TNT, grass, etc). Client rendering progress May 14, 2015

I've made substantial progress on the client's rendering capability, including fixing cube generation and adding support for transparent blocks. Big change compared to yesterday!
